Andrea Schmidt is President of the Munich Regional Court I, one of the largest regional courts in Germany, with numerous special jurisdictions, for example over cases dealing with intellectual property rights. As a metropolitan court in one of the most important locations for business in Germany, the cases handled there have structural peculiarities; usually they are much more complex and extensive. Since 2018, the Munich Regional Court I is participating in electronic legal transactions. With the implementation of the so-called Stage 2 at the beginning of February this year, the Munich Regional Court has now the possibility of electronic dispatch to the parties of the proceedings. The introduction of the electronic file, which is currently being piloted at smaller regional courts in Bavaria, is still pending.
